The ring is part of my life. As a fighter, perseverance and victory have always guided me.
Already in elementary school I was a very shy, yet combative child. In the late ’80s I saw the Frank Bruno–Mike Tyson fight on television, and from that moment on I wanted to become a boxer
I grew up in an intellectual family in an elite neighborhood, but there was no boxing gym nearby, so street fights remained the place where I often sought to prove myself. At school, handball was the most popular sport, so I started playing it as well. I reached the youth national team level, but had to stop due to calcification in my lower spine.
After that, I turned to bodybuilding and from the age of 17 I started weight training. In a gym I met a guy who also practiced boxing, and before I turned 18 he took me to the KSI boxing gym. That’s how my boxing career began.
After only 5 months of training, I entered a youth Hungarian championship, where I won a bronze medal. After that, I did not continue competing as an amateur, but I kept training three times a week. During one of these sessions, a professional manager noticed me and offered me a contract. I accepted, and in sparring matches I proved that I belonged among the professionals. I fought against Benelux and Soviet opponents, where I gave a convincing performance, and as a result I was offered a professional contract – which at that time was very rare in Hungary
In 1993 I began my preparation, and I won my first match against a Slovak opponent. My second fight took place in Italy against an undefeated local boxer. I sent him to the canvas several times, but because of the home advantage the judges declared the fight a draw. I had a similar experience in Belgium, where I should have won against the Benelux champion, but once again the match was ruled a draw
At home I kept winning my matches, but I didn’t see any opportunities for advancement. At that point, entrepreneur Zoltán Seres joined me as my manager, and together with my mother he gave both professional and financial support that pushed my career forward.
My mother had French connections, which led me to Gérard Tyseron, the owner of the French promotion company Europrom. In Grenoble I was able to train in Dominique Ramirez’s gym, who was also the coach of Laurent Boudouani, a future world champion. In France I fought and won several matches.

However, Ramirez pushed me to change weight class, which backfired: my performance declined, and I ended up with a draw and a loss. I then returned to middleweight, where victories started coming again. I was invited to England for a WBC title fight against Glenn Catley, whom I knocked out.
My title defense took place in France, in Epernay, against Morrade Hakkar, where I lost by split decision. After that, I was no longer preparing with the same determination, so while I still had victories, losses also slipped in, such as in the rematch against Catley
For a while I broke with Europrom and signed with a domestic promotion company, Félix Promotion. In Hungary I regained my form and won a series of matches. Through Félix I had the chance to enter a world championship final in Tanzania as a substitute. Unfortunately, without proper preparation, having cut weight with diuretics, and without adapting to the African climate, I stepped into the ring. In the fourth round, I had to give up the fight.
After that, I fought another match in France, where I knocked out my opponent, but the judges awarded the victory to the local boxer.
Under the organization of Félix Promotion, I then achieved 11 consecutive victories, including a WBU and a WBO minor world title. Later, I once again stepped in as a substitute for a WBO world championship final in Buenos Aires, which I lost due to an eye injury. This injury also marked the end of my career.
I had to retire at only 30 years old. However, I feel that considering I started boxing at the age of 18, with no amateur background, I achieved remarkable success: I defeated two French and one Italian national champion, as well as an English world champion, and I won regional titles in three world federations (WBC, WBO, WBU). In addition, I fought twice in world championship finals.
